Full Shooting Script in Industry Courier Monospace Format
FADE IN:
INT. SMALL PRODUCTION OFFICE - AFTERNOON
Bright sunlight slices through the blinds. The room is cramped: one desk, one whiteboard, stacked script pages, coffee cups, a laptop, sticky notes everywhere. Creative chaos. Pressure-cooker energy.
ANAND (38), messy hair, T-shirt, desperate optimism, sits hunched over the laptop.
MUKUL (41), expensive casuals, tired expression, keeps checking his watch.
JEEVAN (35), glasses, precise posture, carries marked-up pages like sacred texts.
A beat of silence.
MUKUL
(looking at watch)
Teen baje se yeh scene dekh rahe hain. Ab tak scene ne humein nahi dekha.
ANAND
Arre dekh lega, Mukul. Scene ko thoda sa time do.
MUKUL
Time? Main producer hoon, bhai. Main time nahi, deadline deta hoon.
JEEVAN
(calmly)
Aur main dialogue coach hoon. Main dono ko batata hoon ki line bolni kaise hai aur jhelni kaise hai.
ANAND
Perfect. Toh phir aaj final ho hi jayega.
Mukul snorts. Jeevan flips pages.
JEEVAN
Yeh script final nahi ho sakti. Yeh script… emotionally confused hai.
MUKUL
Emotionally? Isme emotion kam, explanation zyada hai.
ANAND
Kyuki aap log har page pe apna fingerprint chhod dete ho.
MUKUL
Mera fingerprint? Anand, tumhara hero paanch minute se intro mein hi “main alag hoon” bol raha hai.
ANAND
Kyuki woh alag hai!
MUKUL
Woh irritating hai.
JEEVAN
And unnatural.
ANAND
Tum dono ko bas punch-up chahiye.
MUKUL
Haan. Comedy hai na. Comedy mein kuch toh punch hona chahiye.
JEEVAN
Not if the joke is the situation.
Silence. Anand stares. Mukul blinks. That almost sounded smart.
ANAND
(annoyed)
Theek hai. Scene ka problem kya hai?
JEEVAN
Simple. Hero enters, says something unforgettable.
MUKUL
Exactly.
JEEVAN
But yeh line unforgettable nahi, unpronounceable hai.
ANAND
Main rewrite karta hoon.
He grabs a marker and moves to the whiteboard.
ON THE WHITEBOARD:
“HERO ENTERS, SAYS SOMETHING UNFORGETTABLE.”
ANAND
Hero enters... aur bolta hai—
(pause)
“Main aaya hoon, kyunki sach bolne ke liye koi aur nahi aaya.”
Mukul and Jeevan exchange a look.
MUKUL
Too long.
JEEVAN
Too self-aware.
ANAND
Hero hai, bhai. Thoda self-aware toh hoga.
MUKUL
Hero marketable bhi hona chahiye.
ANAND
Marketable? Yeh line hai ya shampoo ad?
Mukul picks up a sticky note and slaps it on the board.
MUKUL
Try this.
He reads, proudly.
MUKUL (CONT'D)
“Main aaya hoon. Ab kaam shuru karo.”
ANAND
Kya? Yeh hero hai ya site supervisor?
MUKUL
Effective hai.
JEEVAN
Emotionless hai.
MUKUL
Realistic hai.
JEEVAN
Boring hai.
Mukul checks his watch again.
MUKUL
See? This is why we’re stuck.
JEEVAN
No. We’re stuck because everyone thinks they’re the smartest person in the room.
ANAND
(instant)
Main toh bas writer hoon.
MUKUL
Aur main bas paise laga raha hoon.
JEEVAN
Aur main bas dialogue bachane ki koshish kar raha hoon.
A beat.
Then Jeevan notices something. He looks at the pile of pages. Pulls out one old draft.
JEEVAN (CONT'D)
Ruko.
He scans the page. His eyes narrow.
JEEVAN (CONT'D)
Yeh scene... yeh toh humare aaj ke argument jaisa hai.
ANAND
What?
JEEVAN turns the page toward them.
INSERT - PAGE
A producer keeps checking his watch. A writer keeps defending his “heart.” A dialogue coach keeps “fixing” their lines.
Mukul leans in.
MUKUL
Arre... yeh toh...
ANAND
Yeh toh exact hai.
JEEVAN
Not exact. Worse. It’s us.
Beat.
Mukul slowly sits down.
MUKUL
Kisne likha yeh?
ANAND
Maine nahi.
JEEVAN
Maine bhi nahi.
All three look at the script pages like they’re haunted.
ANAND
(quietly)
Toh script hum pe based hai?
MUKUL
Based? Yeh toh surveillance footage lag rahi hai.
JEEVAN
That explains the terrible dialogue.
ANAND
Excuse me?
JEEVAN
I’m saying it’s honest.
MUKUL
Honest ka matlab yeh nahi ki main har line mein watch dekhun.
ANAND
Aur main har line mein emotional breakdown karun?
JEEVAN
Aur main har line ko lecture bana doon?
They all stop. That’s exactly what they’ve been doing.
A long beat.
ANAND
(shrugs)
Okay. Toh problem yeh hai ki hum hero banne ki koshish kar rahe hain.
MUKUL
Main hero nahi banna chahta. Main bas script ko sellable banana chahta hoon.
JEEVAN
Main bas dialogue ko clean karna chahta hoon.
ANAND
Aur main bas... main chahta tha ki koi meri line ko seriously le.
Silence softens.
Mukul sets his watch on the desk.
MUKUL
Fine. No hero.
JEEVAN
No fake wisdom.
ANAND
No “unforgettable” line.
MUKUL
Then what’s left?
JEEVAN flips to a blank page.
JEEVAN
Truth.
ANAND
Comedy mein?
JEEVAN
Best comedy wahi hoti hai.
They look at each other.
ANAND steps to the whiteboard. Writes slowly.
ON THE WHITEBOARD:
“Koi hero nahi hai. Bas teen aadmi hain, aur ek script jo unse zyada self-aware hai.”
Mukul reads it. Then laughs unexpectedly.
MUKUL
That’s... actually good.
ANAND
Haan na.
JEEVAN
Surprisingly, yes.
MUKUL
(looking at watch, then putting it away)
For the first time, time doesn’t matter.
ANAND
Mat bol. Nahi toh main emotional ho jaunga.
JEEVAN
Please don’t. We just got one honest line.
All three laugh. Genuine. Relief.
The laptop screen glows on the desk. Anand sits. Mukul leans in. Jeevan marks the page.
FADE OUT.
THE END.
