Metro, Main Character Syndrome aur Ek Charger ki Dushmani

Metro, Main Character Syndrome aur Ek Charger ki Dushmani

Subah ke 8:12 baje the, aur Rajiv Chowk Metro Station already apni full Delhi mode pe tha. Platform pe log aise bhag rahe the jaise kisi ne free samosa announce kar diya ho, aur har second koi na koi “Excuse me, bhaiya” bolke kisi ke personal space mein ghus raha tha. Aryan bhi usi crowd ka hissa tha—23 saal ka corporate intern, jiske paas laptop bag, ID card, aur overthinking ka ek alag hi department tha.

Aryan ka daily routine simple tha: Rajiv Chowk se Huda City Centre tak metro, office jao, intern ki tarah kaam karo, aur phir sham ko ghar jaake socho ki life mein kuch bada karna hai. Par in sab ke beech ek aur ritual tha—roz subah same coach mein, same side pe, same face. Meera.

Meera 22 ki thi, freelance graphic designer, aur uski aankhon mein woh sharpness thi jo aadmi ko pata chalne se pehle hi samajh leti thi ki uska jhooth pakka pakda jayega. Uska hidden mission thoda alag tha: metro mein phone charge karne ki jagah dhoondhna, aur us mysterious “charging point thief” ko pakadna jo har do din baad uska charger cable gayab kar deta tha. Meera ko log introvert samajhte the, par sach ye tha ki uski observation skills police verification level ki thi.

Aryan aur Meera ek dusre ko roz dekhte the. Actually, “dekhte the” se zyada “chupke se notice karte the” kehna sahi hoga. Aryan ko lagta tha Meera uski taraf dekhti hai aur phir halka sa smile karti hai. Uske dimaag mein turant background score chalne lagta tha—slow motion, metro ki awaz fade out, aur uski imagination mein dono ka future start ho jaata tha. “Shayad,” Aryan sochta, “yeh wahi kind of girl hai jiske saath coffee pe baith ke life discuss ki ja sakti hai. Ya maybe Goa trip. Ya maybe seedha shaadi?” Uska mind ek hi stop mein three seasons ka web series bana deta tha.

Meera ka scene ulta tha. Usko lagta Aryan usse follow kar raha hai. Har subah same coach, same door ke paas khada, aur kabhi kabhi aise dekhna jaise uske face pe koi hidden clue likha ho. Meera ne do din mein hi ek theory bana li thi—“Ya toh ye aadmi creepy hai, ya phir isko lagta hai main uski ex hoon jo memory loss ke baad wapas aa gayi.” Usne decide kiya tha ki agar Aryan ne aur do din aise hi stare kiya, toh woh full detective mode mein usse confront karegi.

Aur phir ek din, dono ke phone ek saath marne lage.

Metro ka signal waise bhi kabhi kabhi emotional support system ki tarah hota hai—kabhi mil gaya, kabhi nahi. Upar se Aryan ka phone 7% pe aur Meera ka 5% pe. Dono ka dimaag ek hi cheez pe atak gaya: hidden charging port. Metro coach ke ek kone mein ek purana sa socket tha jo officially public knowledge nahi tha, but regular commuters ke beech legend ki tarah famous tha. Aaj dono ko lag raha tha bas wahi ek lifeline hai.

Aryan ne side glance maara. Meera bhi usi direction mein dekh rahi thi. Dono ki aankhon mein ek hi moment pe hunger, urgency, aur thoda sa competition tha. Jaise hi train ne next station cross kiya, dono almost simultaneously us corner ki taraf bhage. Itna synchronized movement shayad kabhi school annual day pe bhi nahi hua hoga.

Par jab woh wahan pahunche, to socket pe already ek aadmi ka charger laga hua tha. Beech mein ek bachcha baitha tha, maybe 10-11 saal ka, school bag ko pillow banake, headphones lagaye, aur full comfort zone mein. Uske paas ek auntie khadi thi jo usko baar baar bol rahi thi, “Bas do minute aur, beta, phone full charge hone de.” Baccha aise behave kar raha tha jaise usne metro ka annual membership le rakha ho.

Aryan aur Meera dono ek second ke liye ruk gaye. Phir Aryan ne huff karke bola, “Aap bhi usi socket ke peeche thi?”

Meera ne eyebrows raise ki. “Main? Pehle aap batao, itne din se follow kyun kar rahe ho?”

Aryan ko laga uska dil wahi platform pe drop ho gaya. “Follow? Main? Aapko?” usne stammer karte hue bola. “Main toh bas… matlab… same route hai.”

Meera ne arms fold kiye. “Same route, same coach, same place pe khade hona, aur same time pe mujhe dekhna—kaafi convenient coincidence hai, no?”

Aryan ne bhi thoda offended tone mein reply kiya. “Excuse me, aap bhi mujhe dekh kar aise smile karti thi jaise mujhe jaanti ho.”

Meera ka muh khul gaya. “Smile? Bhai, woh smile nahi, nervous reaction tha. Tum mujhe creepy lagte the, isliye main awkwardly polite ho jaati thi.”

“Creepy?” Aryan almost whisper mein bola, jaise uske ego pe kisi ne metro card swipe kar diya ho. “Main creepy lagta hoon?”

“Aur kya?” Meera ne turant jawab diya. “Roz same jagah, same expression, same intense stare. Koi normal banda aise nahi karta.”

Aryan ne bhi full defense mode le liya. “Aapko lagta hai main aapka stalker hoon? Main toh bas—” Woh ruk gaya. Kyunki sach bolne ka time aa gaya tha, aur truth thoda embarrassing tha. “Main actually aapko dekh ke future plans banata tha.”

Meera blink ki. “Future plans?”

“Matlab…” Aryan ne neck scratch kiya, “kabhi socha tha shayad aap kisi startup mein kaam karti hongi, ya artist type ho. Phir kabhi socha ki agar kabhi chance mila toh coffee pe baat karunga. Main overthinker hoon, okay? Main metro mein bhi life ka trailer bana leta hoon.”

Meera ne usse dekha, phir ek second ke liye uska gussa flicker ki tarah off ho gaya. “Wow. Main tumhe creepy samajh rahi thi, aur tum toh direct romantic film chala rahe the?”

Aryan ne sharam se smile ki. “Main character syndrome, basically.”

Meera ne aah bhari. “Aur main yahan charging point thief ko pakadne nikli thi.”

Aryan ne confuse hoke poocha, “Charging point thief?”
